Grants of $308,977 to Local Agencies in the 
Second Quarter from The Paul Clarke Foundation.


At its May 29, 2003, meeting, the Directors of The Paul Clarke Foundation approved 13 grants totaling $308,977.

A grant of $30,000 was awarded to the East Wayne Street Center, Inc. for the Community Home Repair Program. For over 38 years, the East Wayne Street Center has been providing low-income families and children the opportunity to improve their overall living conditions. Starting in 1983, the Community Home Repair Program has assisted low-income homeowners with minor and major home repairs. The program provides three professional handymen that assist qualified homeowners to make home repairs with labor, and in some cases, the materials at no cost. The repairs deal mostly with carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. Other areas include dry walling, interior painting, and installing ramps and gutters.

Additional Paul Clarke Foundation grants awarded include:

  • A.S.K. Ministries, Inc.: $40,725 for the A.S.K. Medical Clinic 
  • Beasley Ministries, Inc. - Fiscal Agent for: Living Word of God Ministries: $42,400 for the Returning Fathers Program 
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana, Inc.: $35,612 for the Amachi Mentoring Program 
  • Fort Wayne Museum of Art: $17,600 for the Latino/Hispanic Educational Initiative 
  • Fort Wayne Park Foundation - Fiscal Agent for: Lifetime Sports Academy: $30,000 for program support. 
  • M & M Group Home: $12,500 for renovation items to the kitchen, bath, and basement 
  • Rainbow Community Organization, Inc. d/b/a Project Renew: $20,000 for the Financial Literacy Education Program 
  • SCAN, Inc.: $7,500 for the Intensive Intervention Team/Truancy Prevention Services 
  • Summit City Athletic Association, Inc.: $16,000 for the Brother to Brother, Sister to Sister Program 
  • Trinity House of Hope, Inc.: $16,640 for program support 
  • West Central Neighborhood Ministry: $20,000 for the Summer East Side, West Side Program 
  • YWCA of Fort Wayne: $20,000 for the YWCA Domestic Outreach/Education Services

The Paul Clarke Foundation was incorporated in 1992 to manage a major gift from Paul Clarke, who served as the Fort Wayne Community Foundation's Executive Director from 1972-1984. Funds from The Paul Clarke Foundation are to help disadvantaged youth and their families, with a primary focus on the inner city of Fort Wayne. Assets of The Paul Clarke Foundation currently total more than $11,000,000.
